Conservatories have been a popular addition to people's homes for over 25 years. Over this time, there have been a lot of improvements in the quality of the products used in their construction, notably the advancements in PVCu and the introduction of the more energy efficient glazing options for the windows and doors. However, the one area that has remained problematic in the general construction of conservatories is the roof. Almost 90% of conservatories built within the last 25 years have been installed with a polycarbonate roof. This material has very poor insulation and thermal properties and however much the manufacturers have attempted to improve the product in the last few years by making it thicker (35mm) the problems of it being Too Cold in the Winter and Too Hot In The Summer have prevailed.
