About the Business
MI has been a family run, independent business since 1979, originally started by John Masefield and subsequently carried forward by his son and daughter, Kevin and Sharon Masefield. JMI's first premises was a modest unit within a Garden Centre on Aldridge Road, Streetly, but as things got busier, more space was needed and in 1984, JMI moved to a showroom in Gravelly Lane, Erdington, eventually taking over two adjacent shops to create a large triple fronted showroom with stores (see picture above). As JMI got busier still, another move took place back in 1996, to their current 3000 sq ft showroom in Belwell Lane, Mere Green, Sutton Coldfield. The space was big, and the location was fabulous, but the unit was virtually derelict, having been an old woodworking factory and lain empty for some time. A year was spent completely refurbishing the space, transforming the building and the big move finally came in late 1996.
